IT staffing & engagement models

Contract-to-hire & permanent placement

Use a staffing partner to find people you'll employ, with or without a trial period.

  • Engagement model
  • Typical engagement: 2–6 weeks

Overview

In contract-to-hire, the person starts as the vendor's contractor. If both sides are happy after a trial, they join you as an employee and the vendor receives a conversion fee. Permanent placement skips the trial: the vendor recruits and you hire directly.

It suits roles you want in-house long term but need to fill quickly, or where you'd like to see someone's work first. Check local employment law: rules on contractor status and conversion differ by country.

Best for

  • Core roles you'll need for years
  • Skills that are hard to judge without a trial
  • Building a team in a new location

Think twice if…

  • The need is short-term; plain staff augmentation is simpler
  • Converting contractors is legally or fiscally complicated where you hire
